synopsis

Conversing Elevens

A one-act comedy about a married couple whose ids, egos, and superegos are greatly led astray through the unqualified therapy session of a nosey restaurant waiter named Sigmund.

Dunce

Three people are unwillingly locked in a room.  They are unaware of their crimes; unknowing of their captors, unfamiliar with their clothes; they cannot even remember their own names.  With the past a blur, the trio desperately searches for meaning in a stark, absurd present.  In this one-act drama, a single dunce hat that sits in the middle of the cell may be the key to their only way of escape.

The Event

Firebelly Productions presented staged readings of David Cahill's one-acts, Conversing Elevens and Dunce, to a jam-packed crowd of over one hundred people in the Kennedy Center's South Atrium Foyer.  This if the first time Firebelly had participated in the Kennedy Center's Prelude Festival.  The plays were extremely well received, and an audience requested talkback, featuring the cast, director, producers, and author, occurred after the performances.  During this talkback details of the two one-acts were discussed, and Firebelly took the opportunity to announce that both shows would be produced fully for their upcomming 2005 Spring production.

Featuring: Josh Drew, Matthew C. Hartman, and Sarah Imes. Directed by Jessica Lefkow. Written by David Cahill.  Produced by Firebelly Productions.
